Where the city meets the sun meets the sea! The brilliant, sparkling Marina District is a favorite destination in San Francisco.

What’s not to like about views of San Francisco Bay, the Marin headlands and the Golden Gate Bridge! Glorious sunsets! Running at dawn! Playing frisbee on the Marina Green! Shopping and dining on Chestnut Street! Listening to the signature sound of foghorns in the near distance! At the Marina’s western end is the Presidio and the Palace of Fine Arts (a classic structure reminiscent of Roman Temples, designed by Bernard Maybeck in 1915 and a favorite San Francisco tourist destination for photos).

To the east are Russian Hill and Fort Mason, a former Army post which is now an extraordinary cultural arts center. In between are clean, charming residential blocks lined with beautifully maintained homes and multi-unit buildings, many of them in the Spanish-Mediterranean style popular in the 1920s and 1930s and all of them lit up by the sun that so often shines on this desirable district of the city. It’s a high-end real estate destination, filled with luxury properties and happy owners. Some of the finest, most expensive San Francisco homes are found here.

The Marina District attracts high-reaching young professionals, who are eager to live alongside longtime residents of this quintessential San Francisco neighborhood. There’s no mistaking where you’re standing when you’re in the Marina – whether you’re lacing up your shoes for a sunset waterfront run or strolling to Chestnut Street for morning coffee. At Kindred SF Homes, we love introducing prospective homeowners to The Marina District and beyond. We’ve been enjoying Chestnut Street shopping, Marina Green walks and Fort Mason gallery hopping for 30 years.
